Our Story

Where is The Songwriters Joint? Hell, it’s anywhere you want it to be. Find it at your corner vinyl store, at the bottom of a rum bottle, or roll it up and light it up. Welcome to the home of Songwriting G.O.A.T.s! Our mission is to honor and celebrate songwriting legends from past decades and showcase up and coming talents—all while ramblin’ for a cause. We think our musical tastes are just like a pot of gumbo. A mixture of flavors and tastes all mixed together in one large pot. A little bit of folk, dash of country, rock, the blues, reggae, and gulf and western. All rooted and connected by great writing and storytelling. We are inspired by legendary musicians whose songs and stories captivated us and provided the navigational beacons of life. We wanted to create a hub for people to connect, share, and discover great artists while supporting a meaningful cause to us and to our musical heroes.

The Legend of the G.O.A.T.

He’ll go Honky Conky Tonkin’...

The GOAT doesn't know where he’s going but he sure knows where he’s been. Whether he’s drinkin’ mad dog margaritas at the Chili Parlor Bar in Austin, stoned out in the Keys, hanging out in Luckenbach TX, or at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago, there is no doubt that the GOAT has followed and lived out song lines. He has appeared at epic concerts over the years and is known to be best friends with the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Dead, Willie and Waylon, John Prine, Blaze Foley, Fingers Taylor, Stevie Goodman, Bonnie Raitt, and Marvin Gardens. This legendary character lived out these songlines, his fair share of ramblin’ and might even have done some smuggling. The GOAT is timeless, he has traveled all across the musical decades and has now found himself down in the tropical Caribbean sun fishin’ the pilins, drinkin’ his green label, and smokin’ his weed each day. The GOAT created GOAT U in order to share his knowledge of songwriting legends, banger albums, one of a kind venues, and his favorite shows. He spins his vinyls, rolls his J’s, and spends most days paddle surfing and researching. Most importantly, he wanted to connect people through the art of music and storytelling because that is the core of all good music.
